Dr. Arica Black is the owner of The Hearing Doctor and has been practicing in Lubbock since 2013. She is a Board Certified Audiologist and a certified Tinnitus Management Specialist, dedicated to helping patients hear and communicate their best. Her interest in speech and hearing began early in life while growing up with a sister who was diagnosed with multiple disabilities. She became an advocate for the speech- and hearing-impaired before beginning grade school.
Dr. Black received her Bachelor of Science degree in Speech-Language and Hearing Sciences and graduated top of her class with her Doctorate of Audiology degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, Academy of Doctors of Audiology, and a fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. She has received the TTUHSC Audiology Survivor Awards and was named one of the Top 20 Under 40 by the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce.
Dr. Black serves on the board for the Alpha Phi Sorority House Board and is Vice President of the Lubbock Sales Executive Association. She is also the founder of Help for Hearing Lubbock, which provides free hearing aids to those in need.
Outside of her practice, Dr. Black enjoys fitness classes, volunteering in the Lubbock community, and spending time with her husband Trent and their two sons, Mason and Barrett.
Dr. Sage West is a Board Certified Audiologist at The Hearing Doctor with a dedicated focus on pediatric hearing care. Originally from Baytown, Texas, she discovered her passion for speech and hearing during high school through her involvement in American Sign Language. Her early experiences sparked a lifelong commitment to helping children and families navigate hearing and communication with confidence.
Dr. West moved to Lubbock to pursue her bachelor’s degree in Speech Language and Hearing Sciences at Texas Tech University Health Science Center. After eight years of focused academic and clinical training, she earned her Doctorate of Audiology in 2025. She works closely with infants, children, and adolescents and is currently pursuing board certification in pediatric audiology to further expand her expertise and provide the highest level of care for young patients.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. West enjoys thrifting, baking, working out, and spending time with her four dogs—Oby, Gemma, Char, and Opal. She is engaged to her fiancé, Kobe, and the two share a love for travel. They became engaged in Alaska and look forward to exploring many more destinations together. Dr. West values building meaningful, long-term relationships with the families she serves and is passionate about supporting children’s hearing at every stage of development.
Dr. Kendall Morales, AuD has been a practicing audiologist for several years and has been serving patients in the Lubbock and surrounding areas since 2022. She grew up in Des Moines, New Mexico, and graduated with University Honors from New Mexico State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders. She came to Lubbock in 2018 to pursue her doctoral degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center, where she graduated Alpha Eta in 2022 with her Doctor of Audiology degree.
Dr. Morales now serves as the lead audiologist at The Hearing Doctor’s Seminole clinic, providing comprehensive hearing care to patients in the area. She is excited to connect with the Seminole community and deliver personalized care to every patient.
Outside of work, Dr. Morales enjoys spending time with her family and friends, traveling with her husband, and caring for their two dogs, Nala and Arya. She and her husband are also proud parents to their baby boy, Luke. Dr. Morales is committed to supporting and improving hearing care for the Seminole community and looks forward to helping patients of all ages hear their best.
Dara Bluhm has been the Office Manager at The Hearing Doctor since 2010, coordinating insurance benefits and ensuring patients receive the care and support they need. She grew up in Slaton and has called Lubbock home for 45 years.
Dara is married to her husband, Curtis, and they have two children and six grandchildren. When she isn’t at the office, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and hunting for treasures at estate sales.
Carly is originally from Knoxville, Tennessee. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Audiology and Speech Pathology from the University of Tennessee before continuing her education at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she received a Master of Science in Audiology. She is currently pursuing her Clinical Doctorate in Audiology and plans to graduate in May 2027. From May through August 2025, Carly completed a clinical internship at The Hearing Doctor.
During her undergraduate studies, Carly discovered her passion for audiology through the guidance and inspiration of several impactful mentors in the field. She has a particular interest in amplification technology, as well as working with tinnitus and balance populations. Above all, Carly values building meaningful, trusting relationships with every patient she serves and is deeply committed to helping others both within and beyond the field of audiology.
Outside of the clinic, Carly enjoys all things self-care, reading, attending workout classes, and spending time with her fiancé, Will, and her pup, Ollie. She is thrilled to be back at The Hearing Doctor and looks forward to continuing to learn and grow in her clinical journey.
