This is why The Hearing Doctor is so proud to be a provider for the VA Community Care Network and offer specialized VA services and VA benefits for hearing loss to the bravest members of our community under The MISSION Act.
Hearing Healthcare Needs Amongst Veterans
Did you know that tinnitus and hearing loss are the number one and number two most common injuries sustained by our returning veterans? According to the US Department of Veteran Affairs (VA), there are about 2.7 million servicemen and servicewomen who live with tinnitus and/or hearing loss that was sustained while on duty. While this is true, many of our veterans never seek treatment or care for their hearing health, although it has the potential to have a profound impact on one’s quality of life.
The MISSION Act
For some veterans, it can feel easier to simply live with hearing loss than work with their local VA. This is where The MISSION Act comes in.
In June 2019, the VA began implementing The MISSION Act, which allows veterans to seek treatment and care from facilities outside of the VA. This piece of legislation was written as an option to offer more choice for our valued veterans. There are specific guidelines that must be met for eligibility under the MISSION Act, however, if you meet these specific requirements you will be able to work with The Hearing Doctor to receive hearing aids for veterans at absolutely no cost to you.
